We aim to provide musicians with electronic devices that enhance their creativity; to build a reputation for creating original and exciting high-quality products that are reasonably priced. We are based in Ottawa, Canada’s capital.
The Team:
Steve’s been messing with electronics since he was in high school. In 2004 he graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. His friends think he’s a pretty big nerd; he likes to do FFTs by hand and he gets angry when Nyquist’s sampling law is broken. He’s been playing music for about 12 years. He was playing with his friends in Amos the Transparent before they began booking lengthy tours. You should check them out!
When orders started picking up in 2007, Steve hired Mike to take over assembly. Mike has a ton of experience both in electronics assembly and line assembly management. If you open up an Empress pedal, you’ll see the love Mike puts into each pedal. He’s part bionic.
Jason Fee was brought onto the Empress design team in 2007 when Steve realized the Empress Superdelay was going to take forever. Jason helped build that pedal and did the complete design for the Empress ParaEq w/ Boost. Jay graduated from Queen’s University with an degree in EE. He’s also a mixing and mastering engineer…. and a Supersleuth.
Dan has been dubbed the VP of Awesomeness, mainly because he’s awesome. He takes care of all the “business stuff” so Steve and Jay can focus on creating new pedals. If you have any questions that need answering, Dan’s the Man. Dan has a degree in Music and a diploma in Sonic Design, both from Carleton University. He is also a recording engineer.
